Paranoid Void
Those of you who showed up early for AWIWYFA’s London show last year will know Paranoid Void already. You will doubtless remember the Osaka-based three-piece’s spiralling instrumental compositions built on intricate rhythms and emotionally charged dynamics that have a very genuine tendency to leave jaws heading irrecoverably towards the floor. If you weren't at those shows, you're going to want to show up to this one to find out what all the fuss is about. This will be your first chance to catch tracks from their new album Action, which was released back in January, in London, so don't miss it.
Continuing the international theme, although somewhat closer to home, we have the incredible God Alone from Cork, Ireland. Their genre-bending approach traverses through mathrock, dance, avant-garde, post-punk and more on its way to its final destination. Citing the Talking Heads as a big influence, God Alone embrace absurdism at every turn - in particular the absurdity of nothingness; the art of existing without meaning or context. Abstract lyrics are influenced by French Dadaist poets, who seek to turn heavy ideas into fun, danceable vignettes.
